Intergenerational Meeting

On Tuesday afternoon, the 4th October, the boys and girls from sixth class had a lovely meeting with the Ballinamere Active Retired Group. We had great fun hearing stories about school and growing up in the past! The Group also shared information about the area and its history. A cup of tea rounded off the first meeting of the year. We look forward to catching up again soon!

Proclamation Day

Tuesday the 15th March was Proclamation Day in the school. We began by having a concert. Each class performed a song and poem as Gaeilge. After the first break we raised the Irish Flag to mark the centenary of The 1916 Rising. A number of children in sixth class dressed in clothes of the time and read the Proclamation of Independence. Amhrán na bhFiann was performed on the tin whistles by the senior students. After lunch the children enjoyed a céilí.

Bhí lá maith againn!

Guinness World Record Attempt

The sixth class took part in a Guinness World Record attempt to create The World’s Largest Maths and Science Lesson on Tuesday November 3rd 2015 . We joined with 13,000 other learners around the world in a 100 minute lesson. We watched a video about DNA. Then we created a Double Helix model of DNA using string, pasta and straws. We had great fun.
