On Tuesday, 13th October 2015 two members of the Defence Forces paid a visit to our school. They came to deliver the Irish Flag and a copy of the Proclamation of Independence.
All the children and staff gathered in the gym. One of the officers discussed the reason for the visit. A section of the 1916 Proclamation was read by a child from sixth class. The officer then had a question and answer session about the National Flag. He give background information on the symbolism of the Tricolour and the etiquette attached to its display and storage. A child from sixth class received The Irish Flag on behalf of the school.
On 15 March 2016, our school will raise the national flag in a special ceremony, to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising.
